Badminton Ireland today announced the creation of a new High Performance system to strengthen the development of Irish elite badminton.

The National High Performance Centre for full-time professional members of Team Ireland will be based at Gentofte Badminton Club, Copenhagen, Denmark under the direction of the National High Performance Panel and the daily supervision of National High Performance Coach, Jim Laugesen

Had this dissapointing response from Badminton England :-

" I have checked with our events department and the arrangement is that Welsh and Scottish representatives are invited to take part in competitions, but they cannot be affiliated as�their home courts are not in England (which is the criteria for membership).

Appearing on our web site is a benefit of being affiliated to BADMINTON England, so I can not help you I'm afraid.

There are many unaffiliated leagues and clubs in England who would like to be on our site, but I dare not open the floodgates by adding yourselves on."

Heated Discussions

The forum recently generated a heated discussion regarding match fees and training session costs and as a result we lost�two valued members before our first match.

We would very much like a full team, we hope any issues can be overcome in this early stage of the county development.
